RESIDENTIAL ENGLISH AND SPORTS ACADEMIES FOR CHILDREN AGED 9 TO 17, SINCE 2009
Learning English while practising Sports
We run English and Sports Academies for children aged 9 to 17 during the Summer with the method Play Sport and learn English.
Our Academies have been developed in England and Ireland to allow international athletes to improve the use of English language and their sports skills, in those countries where Sports and English language are expressed at the highest level.
This method of combining English and Sport is recommended for those who want to learn English and at the same time to improve and practice their favourite sport or learn a new one.
It includes English lessons in the morning, afternoon workouts and complementary cultural activities in the evening.
The variety of the programme, its integration with sports and the international environment make it a very effective, well-established and recognized educational method recognized by the Department and the Science of the Irish Government.
English courses are organized in collaboration with a well-established international language academy that has been hosting students from all over Europe for over fifteen years. Courses are structured on 5 levels (CEFR), divided into 20 lessons per week, to precisely meet the linguistic and organizational standards imposed by ACELS in Ireland the British Council in the UK.
At the end of the course, students receive a certificate of attendance attesting completion of the course and the level of English achieved.
Athletes train for more than 10 hours a week which include theoretical lessons, coaching, work on individual technique; mental strength development, and intelligence and skills; techniques for safe play; developing skills and ways of expressing themselves fit for team play; games and video analysis. Athletes are assisted by professional coaches from the best English and Irish clubs, professional instructors and team building specialists.
The educational objective is to ensure proper sports education while respecting all stages of the physiological and psychopedagogical training of each participant. All skill levels will be taken into consideration and fun will be considered a very important aspect of the course.
The complementary cultural activities, held in some afternoons and in the evening, are an integral part of the course and play the role of improving language skills.
A cultural trip is organized once a week, in the afternoon.
Saturday is entirely dedicated to a full day excursion to a place of historical-cultural or naturalistic interest by private bus.
Three evenings per weeks there are evening activities such as discos, debates and cinema.
